The bird that brought pot still back.
The name dates to 1912, when London merchant Gilbey's launched a 12-year-old whiskey named for the robin redbreast. When Irish whiskey nearly collapsed in the twentieth century, the brand went quiet with it.
Irish Distillers relaunched Redbreast in 1991 with a rebuilt wood program — ex-bourbon American oak and Oloroso sherry butts from Spain. Today it's made at Midleton in County Cork from Munster barley and Dungourney River water.
Single pot still — malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled at one distillery — exists nowhere but Ireland. Redbreast 12 is the bottle most credited with bringing the style back from the dead.

Yes — it's widely considered the gold-standard single pot still Irish whiskey at a reasonable ~$70, reliably available at a stable price. Critics and drinkers near-universally rate it a must-have.
ii. Redbreast 12 vs 12 Cask Strength — which should I get?
Same whiskey, two presentations. The Cask Strength is 55–59%, non-chill-filtered, bigger and creamier — and it's the one that wins the top awards. The standard 40% is more approachable and cheaper; the CS is the connoisseur's upgrade for ~$20 more.
iii. Is Redbreast 12 good for bourbon drinkers?
Arguably the most bourbon-friendly Irish whiskey: sherry-cask sweetness, a thicker pot-still texture than typical Irish blends, and no peat smoke. An easy sideways step from sherried or sweeter bourbons.
