Founded in 1825 and rebuilt next door in 1975, Midleton is where Irish Distillers (Pernod Ricard) makes Jameson, Redbreast, the Spot range, Powers and Midleton Very Rare — one campus, wildly different whiskeys. Its pot stills are among the largest in the world, and nearly every classic single pot still whiskey alive today is distilled here.

Midleton — The Story
Two centuries, one stillhouse.
The Murphy brothers opened the original distillery in 1825 inside a converted woolen mill in Midleton, Co. Cork. A century and a half later, in 1975, Irish Distillers built a modern plant next door — and the old buildings became the visitor experience they are today.
What makes Midleton singular is range: from the same campus come Jameson's soft blend, Redbreast's sherried pot still and Method & Madness experiments — separated by mash bill, distillation cut and cask, not by geography.

Yes — every drop of Jameson is distilled at Midleton, alongside Redbreast, the Spot range and Powers. The brands differ by mash bill, distillation cut and cask program, not by distillery.
ii.Who owns Midleton?
Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard since 1988. The group consolidated most of Ireland's surviving whiskey brands at Midleton in the 1970s — which is why so many classics share one address.
iii.Can you visit?
Yes — the Midleton Distillery Experience runs tours of the 1825 buildings, including the world's largest pot still on display. Book ahead in summer.
