Michter's traces its lineage to America's earliest whiskey-making and revived the name in the 1990s, building a reputation on obsessive maturation and quality-over-volume restraint. Under president Joseph Magliocco, master distiller Dan McKee and master of maturation Andrea Wilson, it has been named Drinks International's “Most Admired Whiskey” two years running.
The 10 Year Bourbon is the brand's flagship age-stated single barrel — each bottle drawn from one hand-picked barrel, bottled at a deliberately restrained 94.4 proof. Michter's has repeatedly put quality over schedule, skipping the 2022 bourbon release entirely for lack of barrels it judged worth bottling.
Today's releases are contract-distilled to Michter's own mash bill and specifications while the company ages its recent distillate toward future self-distilled bottlings. That transition — plus genuine scarcity — is why a single private-selection barrel once sold at auction for over $200,000.
