ON THE SUPERIOR SHELF
On the Superior Shelf: Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve
Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve bourbon: 109 proof, four mash bills, Indiana distillation and St. Louis bottling. A label-based look at the 750 ml release.

A baseball diamond in the glass
Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve announces its baseball connection before the label is read: a diamond-shaped front panel, patterned glass and a rounded wood closure. The front identifies straight bourbon whiskey at 109 proof / 54.5% ABV, with a medley of four mash bills.
The supplied shelf tag shows $139.99 for 750 ml. This is a record of the photographed bottle and price tag, with producer context below. It is not a tasting review and carries no score.

Four mash bills, one numbered tribute
On its official Lou Gehrig Reserve page, Remus connects the four mash bills to Gehrig’s No. 4 and the 109 proof to his RBI total in the first of 13 consecutive seasons with at least 100 RBIs. The brand states a release of 9,665 bottles, one per career plate appearance. These are the producer’s explanations of the package, not a claim about bottles still available.
Remus’s 19 May 2026 release announcement gives the blend in more detail:
- 14% 2016 bourbon with a 44% rye mash bill.
- 70% 2017 bourbon with a 49% rye mash bill.
- 8% 2019 bourbon with a 99% corn mash bill.
- 8% 2019 bourbon with a 36% rye mash bill.
The first percentage in each line is the component’s share of the blend; the second describes grain content in that component’s mash bill. The years are producer-reported component vintages. We have not converted them into a numerical age statement for this bottle.
Indiana distillation, Missouri bottling
The rear label separates two production roles: distilled by Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and bottled in St. Louis, Missouri. The St. Louis statement is a bottling location; it does not change the named Indiana distillery.

The back explains that each bottle number corresponds to a Lou Gehrig plate appearance, with a QR link to explore it. The serial on this photographed front label is not confidently legible, so we have not assigned it to a particular game or appearance.
The photographed $139.99 shelf tag
The tag names Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve Bourbon, lists 750ML and displays Our Price: $139.99. Its product name and size match the supplied bottle photographs.

The tag’s “consistent low prices” wording belongs to the store display. It is not a price comparison by Superior Whiskey. The photographs do not establish the retailer, a sale, current availability or today’s checkout price.
