Indian barley meets peated Scottish barley in a warm-climate malt with cocoa, fruit, spice, and smoke.

THE SHORT ANSWER · AMRUT FUSION REVIEW

India's breakthrough single malt still lands.

Fusion balances warm-climate fruit, cocoa, spice, and measured peat without feeling gimmicky. It is bold at 50%, but composed enough to pour for Scotch fans who think they know the whole map.

I Origin

AMRUT FUSION — STORY & ORIGIN

A warm-climate single malt with a point to prove.

Amrut Distilleries helped open the door for Indian single malt on the world stage. Fusion became the bottle that made many whisky drinkers take the category seriously: not an imitation of Scotch, but a malt shaped by Indian barley and Bengaluru's heat.

The recipe blends unpeated Indian barley with peated Scottish barley, then lets tropical maturation intensify the fruit, spice, oak, and smoke. The result is compact, muscular, and unmistakably warm-climate.

Fusion works because the peat is seasoning, not costume. It adds smoke and structure to a core of malt, cocoa, orange peel, tropical fruit, and toasted oak.

II On the Palate

AMRUT FUSION TASTING NOTES — NOSE · PALATE · FINISH

Cocoa, tropical fruit, and quiet smoke.

Orange peel, malt, cocoa, banana, warm spice, and dry peat smoke. Bigger than its age statement suggests because Bengaluru turns the volume up fast.

I · NOSE 9.1

Fruit, malt & smoke

Banana, orange peel, barley sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and a soft thread of peat smoke.

TROPICAL FRUIT · COCOA · PEAT SMOKE

II · PALATE 9.1

Cocoa spice & oak grip

Medium-full and energetic: malt, chocolate, ginger, toasted oak, and citrus, with smoke tightening the edges.

Long enough to feel serious: orange peel, cocoa, pepper, dry oak, and a final wisp of peat.

EDITORIAL CONSENSUS

“India's heat makes Fusion taste compact, mature, and forceful without copying Scotch.”

The review treats Fusion as a benchmark for modern Indian single malt: flavorful, distinctive, and still reasonably attainable compared with many trophy world malts.

Amrut Fusion, neat with a little patience.

I like Highland Scotch but want something new.

Fusion is a strong next step: more tropical fruit and heat than classic Highland malt, with a measured peat accent instead of an Islay blast.

VERDICT · AMRUT FUSION REVIEW

India's benchmark world malt.

Amrut Fusion still feels important because it does not apologize for where it comes from. Bengaluru heat, Indian barley, peated Scottish barley, cocoa, fruit, spice, and smoke all show up clearly. It is not the smoothest bottle in the world, but it is one of the most persuasive arguments for Indian single malt.

COMMUNITY PULSE

Readers like the power and the surprise.

Fans praise the fruit, malt, and smoke balance. The common caution is heat: give it air, add water, and do not expect a soft 40% sipper.

AMRUT FUSION · FAQ

Questions, answered.

Six things drinkers most often ask us about Amrut Fusion.

ANSWERED BY MAE SINCLAIR · THE PACIFIC SEAT

i. Is Amrut Fusion worth it?

Yes, especially if you want a bold world malt with fruit, cocoa, spice, and restrained smoke. It remains one of the clearest introductions to Indian single malt.

ii. What is Amrut Fusion made from?

It combines unpeated Indian barley with peated Scottish barley, which is why the whisky carries both tropical malt sweetness and a measured smoke note.

iii. Why doesn't Amrut Fusion have an age statement?

Warm-climate maturation in Bengaluru changes the age conversation. The whisky can pick up intensity quickly, so flavor readiness matters more than a Scotch-style age number.

iv. What proof is Amrut Fusion?

It is bottled at 50% ABV, or 100 proof.

v. Is Amrut Fusion smoky?

Lightly to moderately. The smoke is present, but it supports cocoa, fruit, malt, and spice rather than dominating like a heavy Islay malt.

vi. How should I drink it?

Start neat after a short rest, then add a few drops of water. Water opens fruit and cocoa while calming the 50% ABV heat.
